A short hike to a beautiful waterfall. It's a great swimming hole in the summer or a spot for a picturesque lunch break.
Located along FR-2270 (Google Maps calls it FR-2312) in Olympic National Forest, the trailhead is marked by a pullout and a pair of signposts but no sign. This area was formerly the Wynoochee Falls Campground.
The trailhead is at the North end of the parking lot. This easy hike involves navigating around, over, or under trees that have fallen across the trail. There is short steep descent down to the river bed. The pebbled river beach provides access for swimming while other spots along the shoreline make for excellent spots to picnic. A scramble up the rock wall next to the falls takes you to the top of the waterfall where there's another small beach area.
Note: The gate on FR-2270 is closed from October 1-April 30 as part of a Seasonal Wildlife Closure.
