14 mile roundtrip hike. 3 46ers including the 2nd highest in the state. Stunning views all around.

Although a bit strenuous this loop climb up the MacIntyre Range is one of the most beautiful climbs in all the High Peaks. I suggest that you travel past Marcy Dam to Avalanche Lake and ascend the range in that direction as the trail from Lake Colden up to the ridge is very steep and best climbed rather than descended. You will be amazed at the trail built around Avalanche Lake and really enjoy the waterfalls tumbling down the base of the climb up to the range which has spectacular views. Once up on the ridge you will be above treeline with unobstructed views all around. On the way down you'll make a side trip to the summit of Wright and also have an option to check out a rocky nubble just below Wright for some last unique views. I know you will really enjoy this loop climb.

This is a great hike because so much of it is above treeline which gives you expansive views of Colden's slides to your east and the varying 360 degree terrain. You also get to see plane wreckage and summit 3! This is one of the longer days in the ADK I had so be prepared for a good amount of gain and mileage.

This was very hard but VERY worth it. We bring our dogs everywhere but I would suggest now taking them to these peaks via the avalanche lake trail, there are various ladders to ascend and descend. But none the less very beautiful hike, just be sure to pack lots of water and snacks. Took us about 8 hours.

This is such an awesome hike loaded with amazing views of the high peaks. It can be very strenuous and requires a little bit of scrambling at some parts. Also make sure you don't miss the trail to Iroquois, because it is unmarked and considered a "herd path".
