The weather in the north of Norway can change quite drastic in one day, so be prepared with clothing for all kind of weathers. The best season to enjoy this beautiful mountain, that´s actually the National Mountain of Norway, is probably June- August.During this time of the year, the sun stays up almost 24 hour a day. If you're lucky, you will be able to enjoy the summit in the midnight sun with a stunning view over Lofoten.

The summit reaches 1.392 meter above sea level. The approach is a beautiful hike through the forest for about 2-3 hours before reaching the base of the mountain. The most common routes on Stetind is " Normalveien" and "Sydpillaren".

Normalveien can be climbed with a rack of cams and ropes. On a good day, this route takes around 8 hours starting from the campground. This route is an "easy climb" with some parts that are more airy than others. "The finger Traverse" is one of the more tricky parts of this route. You can really feel the altitude and air when passing, which makes for beautiful viewpoints!

Sydpillaren is a traditional climbing route. For this route, you need to have more climbing experience. This multi-pitch takes around 8-12 hours, plus the time for the approach depending on weather conditions and experience. It´s a beautiful route and also very popular one, so be keep your fingers crossed that you're the first to start.

When we were there, we fished our dinner from the fjord and drank fresh water from the streams coming down from the mountains. The natural beauty of the area is breathtaking!
