Hiking MacGregor Point Provincial Park
Saugeen Shores, Ontario
Description
Added by Joel Wittnebel
Distance: 8 miles roundtrip. Minimal elevation gain. Wide range of great trails. Family friendly hikes. Open year-round. Beautiful views of Lake Huron.
MacGregor Point is a gorgeous spot year round, with different levels and lengths of trails for every hiker. In the summer, the park is filled with wildlife and the trails are well maintained. In the winter, this is a good location for both hiking and snowshoeing.
Many trails on the coast of Lake Huron snake around the arms of several points, sticking out into the lake. Old Shore Road Trail, an easy out-and-back, is a great option for viewing the beaches and water, as it runs the length of the park along the shoreline. It also leads to the campgrounds, for those interested in staying overnight. Make sure to walk out on Sunset Point for a beautiful sunset over the water, on your way back.

Really nice stretch of shoreline on Lake Huron. Never been there in the winter but if you go I recommend checking out the skating oval! It looks very unique.

I grew up camping here and hiking the trails and swimming the beach. Awesome in both summer and winter.
