In 2009, the people that lived in the neighborhood, close to the stairs, wanted to find a way to fight the graffiti that was being put on the structures and stairs themselves. Artist Ricardo Mendoza was commissioned to paint a giant mural that would cover most of the concrete walls that surround and are along the steps. The mural is titled "Fluid City Rising" and is still beautiful. Of course, you’ll still find lots of graffiti, but then again, you are in the middle of LA.

Hoover Walk is near other urban hike landmarks in the area such as the Griffith Observatory trail, the Mattachine Steps, and the Los Feliz Heights Steps.

It’s a small set of stairs and you miss it if you blink. Look for the signs above, at the top of the stairs on Prospect Ave. And below, on N. Hoover St., which is a dead-end street. These set of stairs are close to many restaurants and cafes, so make sure you go down the street and grab a bite to eat somewhere.

Had no idea this set of stairs even existed, had I not taken a detour in the neighborhood. Beautiful, murals, and lovely native plants surround the staircase. At the time I went, since the bottom of the stairs, drop you off to a dead end, there were people exercising in the cul-de-sac. Keep in mind, this is in the middle of the city, so there still is plenty of graffiti. Regardless, still a beautiful piece of urban artwork that you can enjoy if you visit this place.
