Description

Added by savannah cummins

39.91 square mile lake at the base of the Tetons. Low commitment level (walk 100 feet or a couple miles). Incredible views of Mt. Moran. Catching your dinner.

From where you park your car at Colter Bay you can walk as little or as far as you would like onto the lake. You may see a few other people out there ice fishing, or skiers skinning across the lake to get into the mountains. Pick your spot, make your hole big enough to reel a fish out of and start fishing! You can expect to catch Lake Trout, Cutthroat Trout, and Brown Trout. Patience is key.

To get here, turn off of Hwy 287 onto Colter Bay Village Road and follow until the end where you'll meet a "T" in the road and turn right onto Bathing Beach Rd. There is typically ample parking so take a spot and walk out on the the lake. As always, be sure to check ice and weather conditions before heading out.
