Torres de Paine, Chile
Description

Kayak and get up close to icebergs from the Grey Glacier on Lago Grey.
If you've hiked out to Refugio Grey and you've got time in your schedule, a kayak trip out on Lago Grey is definitely worth adding to the itinery.
The trips are run by Big Foot who have a cabin just on the beach near to the refugio. You're given a wetsuit, jacket and lift vest to wear to help keep you dry in the kayak. And before you head out onto the lake, the guides give you a demonstration on technique and a safety talk.
They recommend having previous kayak experience, as the strong winds across the lake can make paddling extremely challenging.
The excursion is supposed to last for around 2.5 hours. On the day of our excursion, the weather was not on our side. We postponed until the following morning, and although we were able to make it out onto the lake, it wasn't long before the extremely strong winds forced us back to shore.
Even despite our short time on the water, we still managed to paddle close to one iceberg, and the experience was amazing.
