Kayak the Des Plaines River
Lemont, Illinois
Description
Added by Jacqueline Marie
One of many locations to put in or take out your kayak on the Des Plaines River. Nearby forest preserve floods enough to be able to kayak through it.
Not the easiest to get in or out of the river at this location, but it works, at least for a kayak. Look out for people using the Centennial trail, and those fishing nearby. Be careful and if you are able, wear good shoes or sandals (not flip flops) with some tread as it can get muddy.
Nearby this location there is a forest preserve (on the other side of the river). I would highly recommend venturing over there after heavy rain or when the water level is high. Depending on the water level, you can kayak through some of the forest preserve!
