Description

Added by Jennifer Carr

Consistent wind and waves with a great beach launch.

Just north of Santa Cruz at the far west end of Big Basin State Park, Waddell Beach offers one of California's top spots for kiteboarding.  Each spring and summer, you'll find consistent northwesterly afternoon sea breezes.  With the added bonus of consistent waves from wind and ground swell, Waddell Beach allows for wave style surfing for the more advanced kiter.  Beginners should be mindful of wave height and wind speed as this location can be tricky to learn in.  With ample parking, a large beach, and bathroom facilities Waddell Beach is a great spot to spend an afternoon on the water or even just watching from the beach.
