Description

Added by Clare Healy

Despite the variety of track-type and a 5-mile climb up the road (which can be shuttled), this loop will leave you jaw-dropped with sweeping views of the Eastern Sierras throughout. And trust me, the single track is worth it.

This 14.7 mile loop has some fun single track descents through the gorgeous Alabama Hills. It kicks off with a climb up the road, which can easily be shuttled if you have more than one car or someone to brave a hitched ride up the road.

From the trailhead start, you'll encounter quite a bit of loose sand trail for about 3 miles as you make your way out to the single track. Right when you think you've had enough, you'll hit some of the most fun downhills in the area. Rollercoaster-inspired trails swing in and out of the valleys of Alabama Hill's boulder fields.

You'll hit a few intersections, but as long as you keep right, single track will keep coming. It does get sandy at parts, so if you're rocking some skinny tires, you can bypass the single track at by heading straight past the single track crossing and turning right along Movie Flat Road which will drop you back on the trail.

When all said and done, head to Lone Pine Smokehouse to fill up.
