Amazing trails for XC and downhill mountain biking with views of Whitefish and Glacier National Park. There are lift access shuttles.

Biking Big Mountain is a must-do when traveling to the scenic Flathead Valley. After leaving the town of Whitefish driving North, turn onto Big Mountain Road (big sign can't miss it). Drive up the road to the Village, purchase a day's ticket if you want to take advantage of lift-access riding ($35/adult), or start pedaling up the Summit Trail for free (8 miles switch backing up to the summit).

Take the chairlift up to the summit and choose from a diverse batch of trails. From the giant berms of the flow trail Kashmir, to the technical rocky Runaway Train, there is something for everyone. Go to Whitefish Mountain Resort's website for a trail map and further description (www.skiwhitefish.com).

In late July and early August, be sure to stop along the trail and pick yourself some Huckleberries. You just might find a honey-hole and forget about biking for a while.

Grab some lunch up at the Summit House, or head down to the town of Whitefish for a slice of pizza at Jersey Boys Pizzeria and delicious Mountain Berry Bowls.

We really enjoyed the trail that leads all the way to the top of Big Mountain. It was a good choice for the whole family and the views at the top are pretty spectacular! The lodge at the peak also has food, drinks, and a spot to hang out.

Great spot to ride up and then down a fun trail. Wouldn’t spend the money on A “four trail” bike park with brake bumps all the time. Not a bike park, just a place to ride.

Big Mountain offers great mountain biking with even better views. Even if you're not a mountain biker, there is a chair lift to the top for those who just want to enjoy the view.

We used to rent a house here each summer for a month - the trails are awesome and the biking was great. We also hiked a ton on all the small trails that run through out the ski area as we could head out right from our house to trails. This is one of my favorite spots anywhere. The views from the top whether biking or hiking are incredible. We used to also pick huckleberries daily on these hills when we were there over the later summer months. There are not a lot of people and you have more space than you would at other ski resorts that offer mountain biking - for sure a lot more than at our Colorado ski towns. Highly recommend.
