This is an awesome photography spot in Portland with great reflections off of the river and is only about a two minute walk from parking.

Starting at OMSI, walk towards the Hawthorne bridge, and away from the Tillicum bridge. After about a tenth of a mile, you will see a dock and the Hawthorne bridge. Walk down on the dock, or take pictures from above. For added adventure, walk under the Hawthorne bridge and take pictures from the other side!

Night Photography at the OMSI Dock

Please be careful in this area. There has been a growing homeless population in this area. Last year I was taking my camera gear out of my car, parked right next to the fire station when I was attacked by a man with a metal pipe. He luckily missed three of his swings and I was able to get out of the way. After he backed me away from my car, he ran back and stole one of my luggage bags and ran away with it yelling. The police did nothing unfortunately, and didn't even look for him despite getting there within 2 minutes. I was on edge for the rest of the night photographing the bridges.... Please be careful, and make sure you're paying attention AT ALL TIMES to your surroundings down there.

One of the best places to photograph Portland. Walking up and down the river near OMSI offers a great view and perspective. A must do for night photography in Portland.

Did this tonight!! Checking things off my photography bucket list. It is absolutely beautiful!! It was great practice for me as well. I need to work on my night photography as that is one area I am weaker in, and this was a beautiful place to practice. I will definitely be going back here again as I improve. The water reflections are insanely beautiful!! Don't pass this up!!
