Kayak through a forest of spanish moss covered cypress trees. Amazing night views. Keep an eye out for gators!

This spot is easy to find. Just off the GA highway 122 is the Banks Lake Wildlife Refuge. You can either bring your own kayak/canoe or rent one for a few dollars.

The adventure begins once you're in the water. Paddle out of the small loading dock area and the entire lake is in front of you. Pick a direction and go! Explore the pockets of cypress trees that are scattered all over the lake. Paddle through them and just get lost!

Find a good spot to float, be quiet, and you won't have to wait long to meet the local residents. Alligators are everywhere!There is also a large osprey nest in the back corner of the lake.

Banks Lake is such a cool and unique spot. It is a HUGE lake and it is completely filled with beautiful Cypress trees rising from its black waters. Spanish Moss blows in the wind and it is one of the most peaceful scenes you will find anywhere in south Georgia. You can rent a canoe at the boat ramp or bring your own! Great for the whole family
