Paddle on Lake Oolenoy
Pickens, South Carolina
Description
Added by Seth Berry
Paddling Lake Oolenoy in Table Rock State Park can rejuvenate the soul with breathtaking views of Table Rock on the water.
Part of Table Rock State Park, Lake Oolenoy is a 67-acre lake providing private boat access for kayaks, canoes, or small boats with electric trolling motors.
To get to the boat ramp, when traveling on scenic Highway 11, turn Sah Ka Na Ga View Road on the opposite side of the road as the Table Rock State Park entrance. Boaters are required to pay the daily park admission in order to launch their craft, unless you have a South Carolina State Parks pass. The Lake Oolenoy access is open from 7am to 7pm during eastern standard time (extended to 7am to 9pm daylight savings time).
My favorite time to paddle this peaceful lake is first thing in the morning. Often times there will be a still fog on the water which presents dramatic photographs. Feel free to explore and paddle anywhere on the 67-acre lake, but I love to travel towards and underneath the highway 11 bridge. If you continue to the edge of the lake it will narrow into the Carrick Creek. You can only go so far however, as there will be a fallen tree that blocks the creek trail. The paddle distance from the boat ramp to the turn around point on Carrick Creek is a little over a mile probably.

We spent a few hours kayaking around the lake exploring... it's not very big, but the views are absolutely stunning! We will definitely be back! ❤

Kayaked this thing last weekend and it was really quiet. When I went, no one was there, though this may change soon! Beautiful water, and surprisingly there weren't a lot of bugs in the summer heat. Definitely worth the trip.
