Description

Added by Rob Giersch

The Slab: sweet glassy wave for beginners and experts. Eternity Hole: get vertical in the best play hole in Western, North Carolina. Park N' Play with paved parking lot above and below play spots. Only 15 minutes from downtown Sylva, NC.

The Slab and Eternity hole, located on the East Fork of the Tuckasegee River, are two of Western, NC's best play spots for kayakers of all levels. Paddle down only yards from the public boat launch to The Slab where you can perfect your surfing in kayak, SUP, or whatever boat you float. A few hundred yards further down river brings you to eternity hole on river left. The play hole is strong and clean enabling loops and similar aerial moves, but will flush a boater downstream if upside down.

Many world class play boaters train on Eternity Hole, so you never know who you may run into on the river!

The East Fork is dam released so make sure you check Duke Powers release schedule before heading out.

Post paddle head back to Main Street Sylva for beers at Innovation Brewing (Fermentation, Experimentation, Innovation) or grub at Guadalupe Café (farm to table Caribbean-inspired fusion cuisine).

Reviews

The water is cold, so be prepared. This is also a good place to flyfish. If you are kayaking, do not get out on river right, because the property owners do not appreciate kayakers on their land.
