Photograph Bear Glacier

Description

Added by Kaila Walton

Drive the scenic Highway 37A to Stewart BC and stop at the viewpoint to photograph and gaze at the beautiful Bear Glacier, in Bear Glacier Provincial Park.

There is no hiking involved to view this magnificent glacier en route to Stewart BC via Highway 37A.

Bear River pass was once filled with ice, and in the 1940's Bear Glacier began its retreat. Strohn Lake formed once the glacier retreated enough.

Getting to the base of Bear Glacier is possible if you have your own kayak or canoe, otherwise you can view it from the big pull outs on the side of the highway.

If you are heading to Stewart there is another glacier that should be on your list as well and it is called Salmon Glacier.
