Here's a great spot beside Millikan's Overlook that you are more likely to have all to yourself.
Located in the beautiful state park of Fall Creek Falls, you'll find this overlook along with Millikan's Overlook. Both overlooks showcase the views shown in my photos, however, Buzzard's Roost is a short walk down the side trail that gives a more solitude experience that you may be looking for.
This overlook is also the spot the rangers utilize at the state park for their semi-annual rock climbing workshop. This would make for a fun weekend for photographing action shots of rock climbing or being a participant! It's very inexpensive at $40/person. Learn more.
A little detail you'll find on the plaque located at Millikan’s Overlook is that this overlook is one of the most inspiring vistas found in Fall Creek Falls State Park. It is named in honor of Dr. Glen Millikan, Vanderbilt physiologist, who fell to his death in a climbing accident in May 1947. This point faces northward into Cane Creek Gulf.
Directions to this overlook go as follow: Put into your gps "Millikin's Overlook." You'll be taken into the park and onto the one-way road called Scenic Loop Road. This road will take you past the main fall creek falls overlook. When you've reached the parking lot at Millikin's Overlook, you'll see just to your right of the overlook with the plaque, a short trail that leads to Buzzard’s Roost.
You are bound to see a flock of Buzzards here. This walk is no more than 50 yards round trip. It's a great spot to bring dinner, a couple local beers (bought at the local store in the park), and watch the sunset!

Sunrise and set sets are amazing here. Watch your step especially in rainy weather as there are some gaps to jump to get near the edge.
