If you're out exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville, North Carolina, and want to stop to snap some photos of the sunset, check out this popular overlook.

The Haw Creek Valley Overlook is only 8 miles from downtown Asheville. If you're in the downtown area, it's a rather easy place to zip on over to if you're in need of some time away from urban life.

This overlook is a hot spot for sunset watching and picture taking. If you plan on seeing what this overlook is all about, note that you'll probably encounter other people picnicking on blankets or sitting in their cars to also take in the view. For this reason, it may seem a bit overcrowded and might not be the place for you if you are truly looking to get some solitude in a non-social environment. On the other hand, packing a meal or some snacks and heading to this spot could certainly be a fun evening activity for you and family or friends.

The overlook sits at a 2,720 foot elevation, revealing a mountainous sea of trees as far as the horizon. Though it may be crowded, you'll likely still have the chance to snap some pretty great photos of the vast expanse of mountains and valleys. And sometimes, a good sunset is all you really need to reset and instantly boost your mood.
