See native Florida wildlife like panthers, alligators, crocodiles and see manatees from an underwater observatory in the main spring. Park has a abundance of birds for those who enjoy bird watching!
Homosassa Spring State parks showcases native Florida wildlife including the manatees which can be seen from an underwater observatory in the main spring. Other animals you will see will include black bears, panthers, bobcats, flamingos, alligators, American crocodiles, river otters and many different types of birds. This is also home to "Lu" the oldest living hippo in captivity. He turned 57 in 2017. The park offers many different educational programs throughout the day. Homosassa Springs is handicap accessible as the entire park is on a wooden walkway. Once you arrive to the main visitor center, you'll pay a $13 entrance fee. From here you have two options; one is to take the tram and the other is to take the boat ride. I recommend the boat ride to the park and the tram on the way back from the park. The boat ride is a slow smooth ride down the river where you'll get to see some wildlife and learn about the park and what you will see once you arrive.
Once you have arrived you'll go through another visitor center where there is a cafe and gift shop. From here you can follow the trail to all the different wildlife sections. It's a loop so it's fairly easy to navigate. Be respectful of all the animals around you.
