Beautiful waterfalls to hike, swim, and photograph.
Potter's Falls is a semi locally known area that is used for lots of different activities. To get there the roads are pretty simple and easy to follow the directions. The parking can be a bit tricky especially if its during the summer or extreme cold in the winter. There are only about 15 spots off the side of the road on gravel patches so if you drive a large truck be careful on the back end sticking out. When you get to the falls it is about about a 100 foot walk to the bottom of the falls. You can either choose to swim in the large pool of water at the bottom of the falls or you can cliff jump from the top of the falls down. Sometimes there is a small rope swing that you can use to swing off of from the top.
In the winter this becomes a totally different adventure due to the cold it is impossible to swim here in the winter however if the temperature is around 0 degrees fahrenheit it can be come a quite spectacular frozen waterfall. Since it is moving water the falls will never completely freeze but they will freeze mostly. Also due to the moving water it can become very dangerous to stand on any ice that is near the water fall because it may only be a few inches thick and you could fall through.
There are two parts to this water fall there is the upper and lower falls. The upper falls is the best for swimming, cliff jumping, and pictures. The lower falls can be a lot more peaceful and a great place to have a picnic on the rocks. The lower falls can also be good for winter frozen waterfall pictures because the volume of water is less.
