Photograph Shore Acres
Coos Bay, Oregon
Description
Added by Adoria Dover
Shore Acres offers amazing photographic opportunities, whale watching opportunities, and dramatic landscapes.
If you find yourself in or around Coos Bay in Oregon, don't miss the opportunity to witness the most dramatic wave action you'll ever see. These gigantic waves are just mesmerizing!
Shore Acres State Park is on the Cape Arago Hwy, 13 miles southwest of Coos Bay/North Bend and U.S. Highway 101. The park is open every day from 8 a.m. to dusk, and a daily vehicle parking fee of $5 is charged. Unfortunately, no dogs are allowed outside of vehicles.
In my eyes, this was the only downfall of the trip: that my husky couldn't enjoy the scenery with me. The parking lot is within just a few minutes walk to the observation deck and viewing platform.
With whale watching season fast approaching, Shore Acres is also a great location with ocean views that may yield sightings. Shore Acres State Park even features a landscape of gardens with plants and flowers from all over the world. From Thanksgiving through New Year's Eve, the gardens are filled with holiday lights and decorations.
