Famous Idaho bridge. Cool waterfall to explore and photograph. Amazing views. BASE jumpers parachuting off the bridge. Great place to catch a sunrise and sunset.

About the Bridge: The Perrine Bridge near Twin Falls, Idaho is a famous landmark in the state and crosses the beautiful Snake River Canyon. The bridge is 1,500 feet long and is 386 feet above the Snake River. There are also BASE jumpers that frequent the bridge. BASE jumping is a sport where athletes jump off fixed objects, like bridges, with parachutes. "BASE" is an acronym standing for building, antenna, span, and earth. You should check out the bridge for BASE jumpers to watch them parachute off the bridge. It's amazing!

About Photographing the Bridge: There are many viewpoints to see the bridge and a few waterfalls at sunrise and sunset. Numerous waterfalls are found throughout the Snake River Canyon. One of those waterfalls is Perrine Coulee Falls that towers at about 200 feet. You can catch an great sunrise of both this waterfall and the Perrine Bridge. Also, you can do a short hike below the falls to explore the creek and waterfall.

Directions to the Waterfall and Bridge Overlook: From Idaho Falls turn left onto US-93 and cross the Perrine Bridge. Turn right onto 4100 N/Pole Line Rd. Turn right onto Canyon Crest Dr. As the road bends to the left, turn into the Canyon Crest Dining and Events Center parking lot. Park here, and there is a paved walkway near the canyon edge called Canyon Crest Walkway. There should be a viewing area here for the bridge. Look around until you see the waterfall and scramble to the edge of the canyon until you can see both the waterfall and bridge. Be careful to not get too close to the edge.

Directions to Hike below Perrine Coulee Falls: From Idaho Falls turn left onto US-93 and cross the Perrine Bridge. Turn right onto Canyon Springs Road. At the first bend in the road you will see limited spots to park to go explore the falls. Find a parking spot, cross the road, and locate the trail next to the canyon side. You'll see the waterfall once you descend a few rocks. From here you can go behind and/or below the falls. Watch your step as the rocks and weeds tend to be slippery.

This is a gorgeous place and wonderfully set up for tourists to enjoy. When time lapsing the sunset, a band assembled to serenade the small crowd that gathered. You can walk the path or take the roadway descent for a great workout in the canyon.

There is a lovely bike/run/walk/dog path that goes along the canyon rim. The perrine bridge has a lot of base jumpers to snapshot. It is usually crowded on a nice day but the early mornings are very quiet. There is even a visitors center and public restrooms next to a small grassy area. Very nice, family and dog friendly!

Being as this is in my hometown, we tend to take this beauty for granted. Running, jogging, walking, site seeing at the top. . . But below, is where it's really at. Hike your way down to the glamour out Pillar Falls. Or, kayak or boat. Head the opposite way, and you'll find yourself in the midsts of Auger Falls. The Snake River holds so many adventures!
