Photograph Wind River Lake
Dubois, Wyoming
Description
Added by Christina Adele Warburg-Hon
This gorgeous roadside lake is a great spot for photography or just for an afternoon chillin and swimming in the summer.
The Wind River Lake is at a picnic area right off the road near Togwotee Pass. Many drive past it each day, but few stop to actually give this small lake the attention it deserves. While it freezes over in the winter, it remains photogenic, especially if you get there early in the season after a fresh snow.
In the spring/early summer as the lake starts to thaw, the fishing here is particularly good as the fish are hungry after a long winter. Bald Eagles frequent this lake because of these fish, so keep your eye out. In the late summer this place makes an ideal spot for swimming and a picnic and just hanging out.
Even though this place is beautiful and extremely close to the popular Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, it remains uncrowded. So next time you are looking for an escape from the crowds, look no further.
