If you're not planning to run to Rattlesnake Mtn. and back, drop a shuttle car off at Rattlesnake Lake. Cool off from your run or take a midway break with a swim in the lake. Running to the mountain and back is 21.1 miles. Duration: 5-6 hours.
To Snoqualmie Point Park, from Seattle take I-90 east to Exit 27. At the end of the off-ramp, go right and follow the road to the end. Go through the gate on the right to enter the trail head To Rattlesnake Lake: From take I-90 to Exit 32. Go south on 436th Ave. SE, turning into Cedar Falls Rd. SE - follow this main road 3.1 miles to the parking area for Rattlesnake Lake. To reach the trail follow an old roadbed that circles the lake to the right (as you look at it).
I would start at the Snoqualmie Point Park area, the Lake and Ledge is over run with folks and hardly anyone knows of this spot.
Depending on how far you go, when I take some out for the first time to see what kind of shape they are in I start for Snoqualmie Point and we do a 2.8 mile round trip hike to Stan's Overlook. A good beginner start to get in shape, for those how are Intermediate I take them on a 8 or 12 mile trip to Grand Prospect and East Peak. For Advance and Expert we run the 10.55 or 21.1, when we start for the Snoqualmie Point and run the to lake we enjoy spending time swimming in the lake after a good run. But for those who are serious as me, I get back on the trail and run back. Total time for me on the 21.1 run is 5hours and 30 mins.
Most people will park one car at the Rattlesnake Lake and then drive and start at Snoqualmie Point and make the Traverse trek.
Depending on how far you go, Water is going to be your best friend as well as food. There is NO water source on the trail.
Depending on where you start, either on the lake side or the point side the first 1.9 miles will be crowded especially on the lake side. But after that the rest of the mountain trail is people free. You get amazing views of Mount Si just about everywhere on the trail.. No camping spots on the mountain and everyone is friendly you run into.
After my 21.10 Mile run, I went to Red Robin in Issaquah. My other favorite place is The Crab Pot in Bellevue, WA!
