Relax at Natural Falls

Description

Added by Korey Taylor

Take a short walk to waterfall to the largest waterfall in Oklahoma (77 ft).

Natural Falls is located within Natural Falls State Park in the scenic Ozark Highlands near the Oklahoma/Arkansas border. The drive to Natural Falls will offer beautiful rolling hills and dense forests lining the highway, and the falls cascade into a V-shaped valley and create a serene atmosphere hidden among the rocks and trees.

Once you reach the Natural Falls State Park entrance it's an incredibly short drive to the parking lot for the Dripping Springs trailhead. From the parking lot it's another quarter of a mile until you reach the railed off overlook. From here you can see a spectacular bird's eye view of the falls.

From the overlook there will be signs to the right that direct you to either the bottom of the falls or to the lake. If you follow the sign to the bottom of the falls you will follow slightly steep downward path until you reach a bridge to cross over to the platform at the bottom of the falls.

It's important to note that Natural Falls is composed of several waterfalls, and depending on drought and recent rain the amount of water flow will be affected. It's best to visit the falls after a big rain storm! Another important factor is what day of the week you visit them on. It can get pretty busy on the weekend, so if you're looking for a more relaxed experience I suggest going during the week.

Reviews

The other reviews were adequate, but I wanted to update as to payment types accepted. I was able to pay with a CC. It seems that cash, CC at least are OK. Happy exploring!

Our family was AMAZED by this best kept Oklahoma secret. We had our 6, 8 and 14 year old children and they thought it was amazing! We were reminded of Colorado, on a much smaller scale. We will be taking many day trips to explore and enjoy this wonderful escape!

I love natural falls! They are beautiful and wonderful for relaxation. I wholly recommend going, but my first experience out there was slightly dampened by my friends' expectations. They were wanting to go swimming in a waterfall, but you are not allowed off the trail that goes into a deck at all. This is to protect the ecosystem and is completely understandable, but be aware that you can't even wade in the bass of the falls or legally approach it off trail in any way. Parking is $5 and was cash-only last time I went. That being said it is a beautiful spot and I love it very much! Enjoy your trip!

This was a last minute decision for me one afternoon this last spring when we had all the rain. I wasn't expecting the area to be so gorgeous! This is one that I will definitely be going back to. Great pics!

After heavy rainfall, the waterfall at Natural Falls State Park is quite a beauty. There are two ways to view it. At the split on the Dripping Springs Trail, you can take a left to have an aerial view of it, while the right leads down a steep trail to the platform (just like the article suggests) where you can view it from the bottom. The Bear Trail (steep climb up) and the Fox Den Trail (goes along the creek up a bluff) extend after the waterfall from the Dripping Springs Trail.
