Description

This beautiful sandy beach is tucked away below the cliffs at Soberanes Point, just a short walk from Highway 1. The secluded location and the great views make it a prime spot to relax, swim, and enjoy the sunshine.
When we stumbled upon this beach we were thrilled to have such great views with no crowds. There is plenty of room to lay out in the sun, you can swim in the ocean to cool off, and the beach is surrounded by beautiful landscape. If you decide to swim be very careful as the waves and currents can be dangerous in this area.
When you're done at the beach, I highly recommend taking some time to walk around the Soberanes Point Trail. The cliffs, the waves, and the ocean wildlife make this area a dream for photographers.
Getting There
Cell service is very limited in this area so I suggest using the GPS coordinates below to help you find your way to the parking area. From the parking area you will join the Soberanes Point Trail through Gate 10 and begin walking south. There are two ways to get to the beach from here.
Option 1: About 400ft down the trail, a smaller trail breaks off to the left. This trail will lead you through the bushes for about 500 ft. where you will reach the beach.
Option 2: Continue past the turnoff for Option 1 for another 200ft. From here you can see the beach below you, and a short and very steep trail will lead you down to it.

Reviews
Finding gate 10 was a little difficult especially with the HWY 101 traffic. The "gates" are marked with signs, but hard to see from the road. We found gait 11 and hiked from there. I hiked this in a dress and sandals which wasn't the best idea, but totally doable. The short cut is very steep! Once you reach the beach though, everything is worth it! You can't hear the traffic on the highway over the breaking waves and you are completely out of view! If we ever go back we will definitely plan to hang out in this place a little longer!

It doesn't get any better than this! In such a highly trafficked hiking and scenic area it was a treat to find this beach and have it all to ourselves. Definitely worth the stop!
