Description
Added by David Duyker
Don't settle for climbing holds made by humans because when you think about it, since the beginning of time everything in the universe has lead up to these climbing holds forming and it's a quick bike ride from down town Austin. No Brainer.
NOTICE:
For this activity it is necessary to have someone with lead climbing and belaying expertise. There is a wide range of difficulties on the routes. A guide that has climbed at this wall before is recommended.
GETTING THERE:
You can enter Gus Fruh from a couple of different points starting in various neighborhoods. You take the short walk down into the greenbelt. The decent is easy and the air seems to cool a little. As you walk you start to feel energized.
You need to head to the West side of the river and it's just a little North of the most popular swimming hole that has a rope swing (usually a bit crowded).
You can spot the wall without difficulty from the trail. There is some overhanging cliffs that form shallow caves and often you will see other climbers.
THE CLIMB:
This is the part that requires a experienced climber to lead climb. They setup the top rope and then the less experienced climbers can test their skill on that route.
