Root Republic All-Season Merino Socks Review
Comfy, stretchy, easy to pull on and off, and stays true to form...basically everything you would ever want in a sock. Plus, for every pair purchased a tree is planted!
Have you ever had those socks that looked great, fit great and then a week later the elastic gave out, reducing them to a billowed pile on top of your ankle? These aren't them. I've used the Root Republic All-Season Merino Socks for a few months now and whether it was on the trail or after a surf, these things have stayed the exact same shape as the day I got them. Nothing sagging, nothing fraying and still soft as butter.
The tech-specs: 72% merino wool, 25% Nylon, 3% Lycra (108 needle count). You want wool in your socks since it is moisture wicking and will keep that funk at bay. You want Nylon and Lycra to keep that stretchiness, well, stretchy...and for support. There's the full cushion pad for added comfort and a seamless toe-box so there's no chaffing or blisters. Bam!
For someone that hikes or surfs almost every day, socks that are warm, comfy and are easy-peasy to get on and off are a must...especially when my feet might be damp (or wet). Root Republic nailed this aspect by having the top of the sock (the sock cuff) chunky and thick and easy to grip to yank your socks up. You don't have to worry about pulling too hard or being delicate, these puppies are built to last and I've put them through their paces.
Finally, you want them to look good, not to be too vain, but an ugly pair of socks is just not visually appealing and doesn't make you want to wear them. The subtle mix of greens, grays and browns keeps these bangers looking stylish, not overdone, but classic and trail-ready. Rocking them with shorts or pants is a no-brainer and you will get compliments, stares, or you'll just be stoked knowing your footsies are enveloped in a cloud of comfort. Seriously.
