Description

Added by Danielle Tourigny

Surround yourself with a variety of plants and take in the lake views on this rich arboretum hike. Trail can be accessed from March to October, is dog-friendly, and is great for kids.

Park in the lot off of Arborway to access the trail. This place is gorgeous year round. The winter offers a quiet solitude, fall boasts bright colors, spring is the most beautiful as the flowers start to burst and cherry blossoms take over, and summer is overwhelmingly green. There are dozens of spots around the arboretum where you can just nestle under some trees and have a private picnic or moment. The trails are organized by types of plants so you can take a walk through the conifer path or head over to the Japanese zen garden. There is also a trail that leads up a small hill where you can get a pretty great view of the Boston skyline. When I lived in the area, I would often take runs through the arboretum. The paths are all winding and connected (some are dirt trails and some are paved). There is no shortage of things to see there. I went dozens of times and always found something new and interesting to explore.

Reviews

When I was living in Boston, I constantly visited the Arboretum. When I went last weekend, I went out of my way to get over there because it truly is a beautiful place. It has lots of walking trails and so many different types of trees. You can enjoy the beauty and learn a lot. Highly recommend stopping in if you have the chance.
