Description

A great way to see the local appeal of St. George on foot or on bike with easy access from I-15 - from two parks, a graveyard, nature center, and a multi use asphalt path.

This is a relatively flat and fast city trail with negligible elevation gain or loss over the 6 mile round trip. Beginning at the Crosby Family Confluence Park located just off I-15 near the St. George convention center, immediately pass under the freeway and begin your run up the Santa Clara Trail.

Bicyclists and dogs are permitted on this trail.

Run beside a golf course for a fast first mile, then follow signs to stay on the city trail, go up over a bridge and make a quick u-turn to find the footpath and pass under the street and over to Tonaquint Park

At 1.2 miles you will arrive at Tonaquint park. Be sure to take a quick jaunt through the nature center you will see on your right as you approach the graveyard. Many kinds of ducks live here, as well as an array of trees that will change color in the fall. It is a quiet spot to take a rest and have a snack.

The trail opens up after you pass the graveyard, and continues to another park, Cottonwood Cove. Loop around this park and return the way you came, as the Santa Clara River Trail comes to an end here. A nice open area with views of the river lies at the end.

The overall out and back is just shy of 6 miles.

Recommended to take a water bottle, at least in the summer, as St. George is dry and hot. Snacks per your preference - at least one stinger/protein bar or something of the like.

This is a good route to practice your 10k time.
