Description
Added by The Outbound Collective
Salmon Creek State Beach located is located just off Highway 1, north of Bodega, California. This beach has a parking lot and restroom on the cliff side, just a short walk down to the beach.
Dogs
Both North and South Salmon Creek sections of the state beach are not dog friendly due to the Federal protection of snowy plovers (birds) that live at the beach. Dogs are permitted on-leash at nearby Wright's Beach.
Parking
There is an established parking lot with a restroom and a short walk down to the beach. On the weekends, this parking lot can fill up pretty quickly. There are additional parking pull-offs north of the parking lot along Highway 1. There is an established parking lot at South Salmon Beach. These pull-offs plus the two parking lots are free to park in.
Surfing
During the right swell (S, W, or NW) and wind direction (E), this beach break can be a fun spot to surf, especially in the fall months. Please beware and know your limits as the currents and undertow can be treacherous and the surf can go above 15ft in the winter months.
Ranger Station
The closest ranger station is the Salmon Creek Ranger Station, located on Highway 1 between the the North Salmon Beach parking lot and the South Salmon Beach parking lot (off of Bean Ave).
