Absolutely stunning scenery, cold weather, great knee/waist deep powder for fun back-country skiing and snowboarding.

Starting in Aspendale at 8500 feet, this 5 mile hike is very invigorating and beautiful. To get here, take hwy 395 until in Bishop. Turn onto hwy 168 until you pass the small town of Aspendale. The road dead ends about another mile up the road and you can park. Walk past the yellow gate toward lake Sabrina which is about a 2 mile hike of paved road. Stay left at all forks on the trailhead and head toward blue lake. it becomes an exhausting hike from this point on with knee to waist deep snow with what seems to be never ending switchbacks. I highly recommend snowshoes or cross country skis. This place is absolutely beautiful but be well prepared as temperatures at almost 13,000ft dropped to around 10 degrees at night.

Bring avalanche beacon, probe, and shovel and know how to use them. Also let people outside your party know you'll be heading out on this trail.
