Want to see the Cascades, Mt. Rainier, and the Olympics in one day? Well look no further. On a nice clear day you can catch them all. But this hike isn't for the faint of heart, so making it up to the top is something to feel accomplished about!
From Tacoma, Wa. take Hwy 167 to Hwy 410 and follow that until you get to the Chinook Pass Hwy. Then from there follow this road and take the second Service Road on the right and follow this road until it dead ends. The trail starts on NF-7315. You have to walk this road until you reach the first fork on the trail ( about 3 miles). Take that right up the trail until you reach the trail sign that says "Sun Top Trail. Do not take this trail head unless you really want to be deep in snow. There is a packed snow trail all the way up because it is traveled frequently (fresh snow will hide this trail so bring a GPS). Keeping walking past the trail sign and you will see another road to your right. Take this path and keep going until it dead ends at a closed gate then look to your left because the peak you want is that way. It is a steep trek up to the top but once you make it to the top you will see what you desire. Carry snowshoes at least for this part.
There is no water source so if you can bring a stove to melt some snow at the top!
