Stroll Chattanooga's Walnut Street Bridge
Chattanooga, Tennessee
Description
Added by Clare Healy
Take a scenic stroll across one of Chattanooga's most recognizable landmarks and enjoy views of the Tennessee River, the town's skyline, and surrounding areas.
Chattanooga's Walnut Street Bridge was once almost demolished, but instead it was revitalized to be one of the longest pedestrian bridges in the world. Connecting the Downtown Arts District to Northshore's Frazier Avenue, this bridge hosts visitors and locals year round. Whether you walk, bike, or run across, this bridge's scenery will not disappoint.

Beautiful bridge, super fun to walk over. You can get a wide variety of pictures here, and it was a favorite for my wife and I along our road trip from Ohio to Georgia. We had to pay for parking at a nearby public parking area, but it was pretty cheap as we did not stay long.

This is a must do when exploring downtown Chat. Also check out Nightfall in Miller Plaza for a free concert series from May through August.

Who says you need to go into the wild to find adventure? Chattanooga is one such place that boasts the very best of outdoor and urban living, and the Walnut Street Bridge does more than just connect the North Shore to the heart of Chattanooga's Downtown via Ross's Landing, it harmoniously marries these two opposing concepts together. Whether you're crossing the span for lunch, or taking an evening stroll, or whether you're using it to commute to work or school, the Walnut Street Bridge is a must-cross in order to fully embrace all that the city has to offer. So next time you're in Chattanooga, do yourself a favor and take the pedestrian route. You'll be glad you did.

Lovely long old railway trestle bridge across Chattanooga. Great views of the city. Connects some great neighborhoods on both sides.
