Warmer salt water swimming. Relatively shallow swimming area. Easy access in Alameda.
This beach has some of the warmest ocean water in the bay area. The swimming area is also fairly shallow, making it a safer, more protected swimming area. Be sure to check the link below for updated water conditions, especially if it has rained recently.
There is a bathhouse with changing rooms on the west end of the beach so you can clean up after your swim. Enjoy the picnic area and bbq pits if you're planning to make a day of it. If you're not up for swimming, there are also kayak and raft rentals available at the beach. Unfortunately no dogs allowed on the beach.

Reviews
Alameda is a great spot. The beaches are sandy and the water is not too cold. Remember that it is bay water, and check the water conditions before you go in. I like to go further down the shoreline where it is less crowded. Good for summer swims and reading on the beach.

If you must submerge yourself in the dirty Bay water, check the website to make sure it's at a green level. I love the ocean and it always looks so beautiful but I swear, there were years of weird yellow foam and the rashy itchiness is not worth it. I do stand up paddleboard though!
