This easily accessible overlook provides expansive views of Blackwater Canyon.

Pendleton Point Overlook in Blackwater Falls State Park provides visitors with expansive views of Blackwater Canyon. The overlook is easily accessed via a short walk from the parking area and marks the widest and deepest point of the canyon. The wooden platform has tower viewers so visitors can magnify the vista, but in my opinion the best vantage point is from the rocky outcrop 20 feet away. In the winter, you can add to your adventure by cross country skiing from the overlook along the Pendleton Trace Trail.

Blackwater Falls State Park offers beautiful scenery as well as many amenities. View the park map or visit their website for more information. You can also pick up a map at the Trading Post. Admission to the park is free.

Great Park! I arrived on a Wednesday and nearly had to place to myself. Pair activities in the park with the nearby National Forest lands and you've got days of adventure and exploring!

Starting at the Blackwater Falls Lodge, head to the left side of the parking lot, where a trailhead becomes visible. Follow the clearly marked trail down until you reach a bridge which goes over the top of the falls.
