Description

Added by Ben Duke

This is definitely one of the most scenic runs you'll ever go on.

The Slickrock Trail is well known in the mountain biking community and has put Moab on the map as one of the premier mountain biking destinations in the world. The good news for folks who don't mountain bike is that it's just as much fun to run or hike.

It's a loop trail and very well marked with big white painted lines on the sandstone so it's pretty tough to get lost. There is an option for the "warm up" loop just after beginning the trail...stay right at the first fork to add about one extra mile to the full loop.

Pay attention to the warning markers as well as some sections can be pretty technical. Be especially careful if you're running in the winter or spring as ice can sometimes form and be super hard to detect. Just watch your step and you'll be fine. If you're coming in the warmer months be sure to bring more water than you suspect you'll need...it can get HOT and you'll be totally exposed. Most of all, don't forget to look around while you run, Moab is one of the most beautiful areas in the world.
