Sitting at 1,549 feet above sea level, Campbell Hill is the highest point in the Buckeye State!

One of the easiest of the 50 State Highpoints in the United States to visit, Campbell Hill sits just outside Bellefountaine (pronounced Bell-fountain), Ohio.

Sitting on the grounds of the Hi-Point Career Center, Campbell Hill is open to visitors virtually everyday of the year during daylight hours. The facility is gated, but if the gate is open, its safe to visit. The parking lot for Campbell Hill is on the left as soon as you enter the gate. From there, pass through a gate in a chain-link fence and walk to the highest point in view.

While it lacks a great view or any redeeming wilderness qualities (there's a massive water tower behind the highpoint marker on the hill), its still a noteworthy stop for anyone attempting to visit all 50 U.S. State Highpoints.

Geologically, Campbell Hill is fascinating considering it sits amid the vast glacial plains of Western Ohio. Due to the resistant sandstone at its "peak", the mile-thick ice sheets during the last Ice Age were unable to erode the region, and simply flowed around it, making it a geographical oddity in Ohio.
