Experience the Spouting Horn blowhole, one of the most photographed spots on the island of Kauai. Depending on the tide and the surge, the water may spout as high as 50 feet into the air.

On the South Shore you can find the Spouting Horn. There's a small beach park with a great lookout where you can watch a blowhole spout a plume of thundering water into the air. This waterspout occurs whenever the waves are forced under the rocky shelf and up through a lava tube. The water sometimes hisses and roars. If the light is right, you may be able to catch a rainbow in the sea spray.

Access to Spouting Horn Park is easy with plenty of parking and the view from the lookout is especially good at sunset. There's also a trail down onto the lava shelf which is worth exploring. There are some great views of the rugged Poipu coastline and bay from there.

I had never seen a blowhole so I was amused! Make it a quick stop on the way to something else. Great view of the ocean!

If you’re in the area it’s worth a quick drop by. Not a destination. Parking lot is right next to the lookout and the lava flow is fenced off. The sound is as interesting as the spout of water.

It’s a cool spot to check out if you are going somewhere else and have some time to kill. Pretty cool to watch it go off. Saw a few turtles there as well.

This is a great spot to check out and I love that the photos here reflect the best time of day to do it - sunset or sunrise will be best for light and possible color. It is a really cool thing to see but you won't spend much time here. Everything is fenced off and the area it is next to is not that nice. Great drive by spot to check out or for photography.

This is a big beach park. There are large grassy areas with trees that are perfect to hammock in. There are also many picnic tables. The are two sides to the beach, with one side being very kid-friendly. The waves can crash very hard into the rocks and create a lot of spray.
