Why Golden Hour in a Slot Canyon Is More Valuable Than Any Possession
There's plenty of gold for everyone, if you know where to find it.
You've probably heard the advice to "value experiences over things." Over the last couple of years, I've made an effort to adopt that advice (maybe it's because I'm paying for my husband's tuition, so we're still in the poor-college-student phase, but still). There's nothing wrong with valuing possessions, but I believe making an active effort to frequently experience new things helps us become better, more rounded people. New experiences don't necessarily have to be anything grand. For me, things like researching and conquering a new hike is enough to give me that sense of value and accomplishment. I love the outdoors and exploring a new area is as exciting as buying a new pair of shoes. While I may not be rich in the sense of physical possessions, I've discovered plenty of gold in my wanderings. Water is my favorite subject to photograph, and there's no better time and place than at sunset in a slot canyon! The way that water lights up with the canyon's reflections is unreal, and I'd take that over a new pair of shoes any day!
