With amazing views of The Bubbles, this is the perfect place to photograph the sunset, or to view the stars at night. Jordan Pond is very easy to access with parking, and there is also a restaurant overlooking the pond in Acadia National Park.

If you ever find yourself in Acadia National Park, be sure to check out Jordan Pond. Jordan Pond is a 3.6 mile long pond sitting in the heart of Mt. Desert Island. The shoreline of the pond has amazing views of the The Bubbles, which are two similar mountains that resemble "bubbles". The pond has a ton of history and was formed by the Wisconsin Ice Sheet during the last glacial period.

To access the pond, park in the Jordan Pond Parking Lot, which is located on left side of Park Loop Rd. From the Jordan Pond Parking lot, you can walk down the path that leads into the boat landing. You can either take a left or right and walk along the Jordan Pond Loop Trail, a moderate 3.3 mile loop around the pond. Jordan Pond is one of the best places to view the sunset in Acadia, and it is very easy to access. The Jordan Pond House practically overlooks the pond and includes a restaurant and gift shop.

The pond is also a perfect place to view the stars at night. The ease of parking and accessibility, make it a must for night photographers. If you get really lucky you can view the Northern Lights from Jordan Pond. Be sure to try and visit on a weekday to avoid the crowds. Jordan Pond is definitely a must see when visiting the scenic, Acadia National Park.

Beautiful spot which offers great hiking, biking on carriage trails, and food as well. The hike around the lake is easily accessible and good for families. Perfect mid-day packs lunch kind of place to eat lakeside. There are also Great Lake overlooks via the Carriage Trails. Note parking can get crowded, so be ready to wait for limited spots.

My group and I walked the loop on a day with lots of fog and the views were stunning. The lot was packed to the brim but this is typical for a Saturday. To avoid people on the trail go on a weekday or off season. It's too beautiful to miss.

Don't miss this spot! Walked a little ways away from the parking lot and had the most relaxing and peaceful lunch break. Could've sat there all day.

While I didn't get to see the sunset from Jordan Pond, it is a beautiful sight any time of day. Like most places in Acadia, head out early to get a parking spot as the lots fill up quickly, or consider taking the park's shuttle. And be prepared to share the trail with many other travelers - this family-friendly/dog-friendly spot is popular for a reason!

Grab some tea and popovers from the Jordan Pond Tea House and relax with an incredible view.
