Description

Hex Mountain is a steep but rewarding out and back hike/snowshoe with 360 views from the peak. On a clear day you can see Mount Rainier, the Teanaways, the Stuart range, and many other surrounding peaks. Low avalanche risk makes this an enjoyable winter destination for snowshoers and backcountry skiers alike. The trail starts with a wide road walk for about 1.7 miles, and then you leave the road for Trail #1343, marked with a wooden sign. From this point the trail will follow a narrow spine all the way to the summit. Watch for cornices and stay to the center. Eventually you will veer to the right and travel up a steep, bare, and windswept knob to the summit. The views at sunrise are especially spectacular!
This trail is dog friendly on-leash.
Please check weather and avalanche reports before heading up, especially in the winter. If
