Rock Climb in Lambs Knoll
Virgin, Utah
Description
Added by Michael Martineau
Sport, Trad, or Top Rope, whatever you prefer Lambs Knoll just outside of Zion National Park (off Kolob Terrace Rd.) has it all. So rack up and hit the beautiful rock for a day of climbing.
If you're a rock climber, then chances are you've got Zion National Park on your list of to do's, or must go back. The beautiful sandstone just keeps calling you back and asking you to climb more. Although not technically in the park, Lambs Knoll is right across the street in the north western part of Zion. It offers climbers a variety of different routes from sport to trad to top rope. There are also some great rappelling areas.
The parking lot can be a bit hard to find if you are going on your own for the first time (lot coordinates: 37°18'47.6"N 113°06'31.0"W). Once geared up follow the sandy path into the rock and pick your routes. As you hike through keep looking up at the rock, you will see the different bolted routes you can climb. Like most places, weekends see more traffic (especially during the summer) but this area is still a pretty well kept secret.
If you are looking for a guide service to go with, check out Zion Mountaineering School. They offer half day climbs, full day climbs, and a bunch of training courses. The guides are very knowledgeable and friendly .

Reviews
I recently visited Lambs Knoll with a group of friends to do some canyoneering. After we finished the short canyon route we went over to the climbing area for a short climb and a rappel. It's a great area for all skill levels.
