Take a Dip at "Hippie" Hot Springs
Jackson, Wyoming
Description
Added by Christina Adele Warburg-Hon
Clean, comfortable and scenic. At the base of a waterfall in the National Forest. Perfect for a lazy afternoon or an evening under the stars. There is a $6.00 fee to swim at these springs.
Hippie Hot Springs is definitely one of the better kept secrets in the area. In fact, locals will probably get mad that I am even letting others know about it. Recently the Park Service has really cracked down on people illegally bathing in the more popular hot springs up near Flagg Ranch. The good news is that those northern hot springs are far inferior to these beautiful southern ones anyway.
Hippie Hot Springs are leaps and bounds cleaner and clearer with a more comfortable temperature. In addition, they are much more scenic than any other hot springs in the area. These hot springs are slightly larger than a hot tub, have clear turquoise water, and are right at the base of two waterfalls. Perfect for afternoon with friends or a romantic night while stargazing.
If you prefer something a little more developed, a mile up the road is Granite Hot Springs. That is a developed pool with bathrooms and a small snack bar.
Tip: This spot is better in late summer, autumn or winter when the water levels in the creek are lower, making it easier to cross. In the winter these are accessible only by over snow transportation.

I couldn't believe that the hotspring pool was fed by a hot waterfall, so cool. I went late Oct and the water from the river was so cold that you kind of had to position yourself shallow in the pool to stay warm. Still really nice though, only enough space for one or maybe two spooning. Also, I read the review saying that you can cross upstream and walk back, I def did not see how that would be possible, there's a cliff and waterfall surrounding the spring. and that river was freezing.

Thought it was going to be a little more difficult to get to but you can drive right up to it. We didn't cross the river. If you keep driving up to granite hot springs you can cross up there and stay dry then take a quick 15 minute walk back down the river to get on the other side. No need to do that in the summer though. The Falls are beautiful and are definitely worth the view. As for the hot spring itself, it's very small and looking at from across the river you won't think it's anything. 4 us soaked are feet and it would have been a little crammed if we all got in. Highly recommend going.

Wow! The water across the river was cold, once you got to the hot pots it was super nice. The pot is pretty small it could comfortably seat 4ish people. Go on the fall it has less cold water running through, it makes for a better soak.

Will take some effort and some balance but totally worth it. Don't forget to leave your wallet and non waterproof phone in the car 😉. Once you do it in daylight then try it at night, double the adventure! Be bear aware.
